I look
And see the gentle sway
Of the trees and long grass overdue for a cut
And thank God for the breeze.
It brings cool and delicate
Sweeps across my tired face
I look
And see the green hue
Of the grapevine across our porch
Ready to burst with autumn abundance
And I thank God
For the relieving shade
And promise of harvest
I listen
To the rush of the breeze
In and out, back and forth
And I thank God
For the silence it is breaking
It reminds me of His Spirit
Moving but not seen
I listen
To the birds and crickets chirping
Maybe warning, maybe celebrating food found
I thank God that in the evening
They sing a song of thankfulness
For the day their Creator gave them
I feel
The warmth of the sun
On my face that is turned towards it
I thank God for its rays radiating golden
Welcomed warmth
It is life bringing for our planet
If they could, Ecosystems would cry out in thanks
For its provision
I feel, see and hear
My mind settling
I am grounded
Centered
Knowing my place is firm
Right now
Here on my porch
