1 Peter 5:7 – Cast all your anxiety on Him for He cares for you”.
Message version – “So be content with who you are, and don’t put on airs. God’s strong hand is on you; he’ll promote you at the right time. Live carefree before God; he is most careful with you.”
God asks us, invites us, to cast, throw, place all the things that worry us, the things that occupy our contemplative space, the things that wind us up. To cast them, offload, release, hand over. To breathe, relax the shoulders, feel the tension release as you hand those things over to the Lord
There is a part we must play in this – we must do the casting. We need to let go, hand over, change ownership of our worries to God. An action of faith, of hope. And in that casting, we receive peace. Contentment. A mind that is now free to converse with our Lord.
In this place of trusting God’s intervention and good purpose instead of our own strength and understanding (Prov 3:5-6), we find rest. For our fragile human minds it can be difficult to stay in that place of trust. We want to flick our thinking back to trying to solve or worrying about the “what-if’s”. Matthew 11:28-30 invites us…“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
So, say it. “I trust you with this Lord. I leave you in control, please work your will.” Say it every day, every hour if needed. Release yourself from the grind of worry.
Here are some Bible verses to help and encourage, to provide strength and wisdom to navigate through life’s challenges with resilience and faith.
Matthew 6:34 – “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
Phil 4:6-7 – “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Psalms 18:1-3 – “The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety. I called on the LORD, who is worthy of praise, and he saved me from my enemies.”
Isaiah 43:1 – “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine.”
Psalm 46:10 – “Be still and know that I am God”
Breathe. Be still. Thankyou Jesus!
